Maulie Dass

Maulie Dass still tries to take sexy back even though she's just a typical Desi engineer in the bay area. She likes to cook, watch Rachel Ray on the food channel, laugh out loud at how people imitate Rachel Ray on SNL, and works a little too much for her own good. She gets annoyed when anyone refers to her in the 3rd person in front of her, but she's ok writing this note about herself in the 3rd person because well, that's what happens when a website admin is pointing a gun to your head.

Brace yourself, I'm changing to 1st person.

In all seriousness, I started South Asian Sisters just so I can find community, solidarity, and friends. I am so grateful to be a member of such an empowering collective and I find inspiration in every single woman I have the privilege of meeting. South Asian Sisters is proof that mountains can be moved with the power of many and I always marvel at how far we've come, and how far we'll go. In addition to the many YKB shows and meeting Eve Ensler, one of my favorite memories was participating in an event called "South Asian Women for Peace" - a safe space we created for many of our 1st generation sisters to attend, drink some chai, have some samosas, and share political opinions and ideas.

Anjli Giri Gupta

She is getting there...

Anjali Kamat

Yup, her too!

Leena Kamat

Leena is an attorney, writer, and die-hard Bollywood fan who always has a song stuck in her head. She has lived in the Bay Area all her life, and has had the good fortune of being with South Asian Sisters since shortly after Maulie made the move over from Colorado. She has written and/or performed for Yoni Ki Baat every year so far.

Vandana Makker

Vandana has been with South Asian Sisters since Maulie brought it over from Colorado in 2002. She is currently the outreach coordinator for "Yoni ki Baat." One of her best SASisters memories is meeting Eve Ensler and sharing pieces from the YKB script with her.

Vandana lives and teaches high school English in the East Bay.

Aditi Seal

Aditi is a Djembe-playin' Bengali Mumbaiite. She was introduced to YKB in 2004 and has been with the South Asian Sisters since 2006.

A motorcycle enthusiast and geek, she works for a Software company in good ol' Silicon Valley.

Anjali Verma

Anjali is an ethnic Desi, a Greek citizen, and a die-hard San Franciscan. She is thankful for the blessed day she replied to The South Asian Sisters' 'Call for Performers' for the 1st "YKB" in 2003, and that she's been a part of both ever since.

When she's not pining for her own pistachio-coloured Vespa with bright purple & orange 5-petaled flowers on its side, she works 9-2-5 as a Paralegal in downtown San Francisco, and waitresses part-time to be able to eat chicken tikka masala and garlic naan for free, on a weekly basis.
